PE, Sport and Physical Activity

At Queensway, we strive to create a culture that inspires pupils to be physically active and confident in PE, sport, and physical activities. Every young person should have the opportunity to lead a healthy and active life. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can foster a lifelong habit of participation.

We understand that physical activity has numerous benefits for children's physical health as well as their mental well-being, including increasing self-esteem, emotional well-being, and lowering anxiety and depression. Children who are physically active are happier, more resilient, and more trusting of their peers.

Our pupils have access to a wide range of sporting competitions. These competitions are organised with other schools within our local community and also within our family of Inspiration Trust schools. We strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to attend one of our community sporting events. Additionally, we provide in-house opportunities such as our sports day in the summer term.

Swimming

Our Year 4, 5, and 6 pupils have the opportunity to attend weekly swimming lessons. Year groups rotate throughout the academic year. These lessons focus on building pupils’ confidence and competence in a range of strokes and water safety. By Year 6, we aim to ensure that our pupils have developed this valuable life skill and gained confidence in the water.

Clubs

At Queensway, pupils can attend after-school clubs every half term. We ensure that children have the opportunity to participate in a range of sports each term. These include cheerleading, dance, dodgeball, and football.
